Carmel Road's mission is to produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir
from the unique nature of Monterey County terrior. We are dedicated
to demostrating Monterey County's ability to create distinct, well-
structured and harmonious wines of the highest caliber.
Located just a few miles over the ridges from the Pacific Ocean, we source fruit from three remarkable vineyard sites in Arroyo Seco, Santa Lucia Highlands, and the Gabilan Mountain Range, applying a rigourous program of sustainable, precision farming. The fruit emerges in wines exhibiting both a studied elegance and superb richness.
Tenuta di Arceno is located within the commune of Castelnouvo
Berardenga, within the province of Siena, Tuscany. It lies within the
southeast border of the Chianti Classico wine region. It is bordered to
the north by the town of San Gusme.
The estate consists of 881 hectares (2,200 acres) of mixed agricultural land (200 acres planted to vineyards), comprising forestry, olive orchards, arable land, and deciduos forestry.
Historical mention of the estate dates back to the 11th century. The estate saw its golden age during the 17th and 18th century with construction of the neo-classical padronal villa, the landscape architecture of parks and cypress avenues. During this time, it was considered one of the great estates of the Siena province. The property fell into a sad decline on the 1960's and 70's (not unusual for estates of this nature in Tuscany) until the purchase by Jess Jackson in 1994.
